Some exciting news: I joined a church last weekend! Since moving to Portland almost two years ago, I've been attending a variety of churches. Some Presbyterian, some non-denom., one Methodist. They have all been positive experiences, for the most part. But none of them felt quite right. I wrote a few months ago about how I attended an Episcopal church and how it felt like home. Well, that feeling has never left me. Every time I go, I feel at peace, and I am so excited to be there.
So, last weekend I stood in front of the congregation and became a
member! (Something I have never done before, at least at a mainline denominational church.) I'm excited to learn all about the Episcopal tradition and to connect into this community. So far, I love what I am learning and seeing an experiencing.PS my biology class is going well. I registered for Anatomy & Physiology I this summer. It will be a busy season!

Baptized and Confirmed at All Saints' Episcopal in Beverly Hills back in the late 40s and early 60s, i was (plus acolyte, altar boy, and even pre-theology type). I understand the appeal and the sense of balance between ritual and just being a community. All that good-hearted singing is critical to a sense of belonging. Congrats on that part of moving forward into the next layers of being.
awesome. hooray. kudos. etc.
seriously, that is very cool, and exciting!
